February 6-7, 2010: I'm presenting at Murder in the Magic
City at the Homewood Library in Birmingham, Alabama. This is a very
well-run, one-day fan conference on Feb. 6 and will feature authors C.J.
Box and S.J. Rozan. It's followed on Feb. 7 by Murder on the Menu, which
takes place at the Watumpka library and is kind of like speed dating,
but with authors meeting readers and vice versa. January 16, 2010: I'll be signing books and meeting people at the Manchester Public Library from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This is a terrific event and benefits the library. Also signing there will be J.T. Ellison, Jennie Bentley, Chester Campbell, and many more. Check it out here: http://coffeecountylibrary.org/index.php/blog/. November 2009: Chester and I will be signing books at the Old Hickory Country Club. October 24, 2009: Please join me at Mysteries & More in Lenox Village at 2:00 PM, where I'll be signing copies of Racing the Devil. Mysteries and More is an independent mystery bookstore owned by Greg and Mary Bruss, two wonderful people devoted to mysteries, readers, and writers. Please support them by coming out and making this event a success. If you're in the Nashville area and you like mysteries, you'll love Mysteries & More. October 23, 2009: The Cool Springs Barnes & Noble is hosting a mystery event. Several local authors (myself included) will be gathering to role play a "mystery in a box" game, after which we'll chat with readers and sign books. It's going to be a lot of fun, so come on out and join us--and see if you can guess which of us is the killer. Among the other authors who will be there are Chester Campbell, Mary Saums, and Jenny Bentley. October 10, 2009: I and several fellow Sisters in Crime members will be speaking on a panel at the Southern Festival of Books. I'll add more information later, but for right now, the important thing is, Racing the Devil will be released at the festival. This is a reissue of the book previously published as Too Close to Evil. The new book has a new title, a new cover, several new scenes, and a new pseudonym, E. Michael Terrell. October 3, 2009: Chester Campbell and I will be selling and signing our books at the Gallatin Street Festival on the main square in Gallatin, Tennessee. It's a charming little fair where you can shop for handmade jewelry, handmade soaps and perfumes, antiques, crafts, and much, much more. Not to mention a few really good mysteries! August 14-16, 2009: I'll be spending the weekend at Killer Nashville: A Conference Celebrating Mysteries, Thrillers, and Other Crime Literature. If you are a reader or writer of mysteries or thrillers, this is the place to be. J.A. Jance is the guest of honor, and the forensics track is out of this world. Lee Lofland will be doing presentations of kinesics, crime scene investigation, writing realistic villains and crime scenes, how to think like a detective, and the Tina Mott story (in which he covers the investigation and solution of a real-world homicide). February 21, 2009: Join me and several fellow authors from 1:00-4:00 PM at Sherlock's Books in Lebanon , TN for a half-day writer's conference. For more information, check out the website for Sherlock's Books, http://www.sherlocksbooks.com. January 17, 2009: J.T. Ellison and I will join several other authors at the Manchester Library for their annual "Author's Day." There will be panel discussions and book giveaways. The library is located at 1005 Hillsboro Blvd., Manchester TN 37355. For more information, the circulation and information telephone number is 931-723-5143. October 10-12, 2008: On the 12th, I'll be on a Sisters in Crime panel at the Southern Festival of Books. On the 10th and 11th, I'll be helping to man the Sisters in Crime book. If you love books, this is the place to be in October. I hope to see you there! August 15-17, 2008: Please join me at the third annual Killer Nashville Mystery and Thriller Conference. The Guest of Honor is Dr. Bill Bass, world-renowned forensic scientist and creator of the real "Body Farm." He is also half of the bestselling writing team billed as Jefferson Bass. This year's Killer Nashville conference also has a killer schedule. Guests include bestselling authors PJ Parrish and Gregg Hurwitz, Edgar nominee David J. Walker, and award-winning authors Don Bruns, Mary Saums, Phillip Cioffari, and Nashville's own Chester Campbell. Of course, yours truly will be there too. Two of last year's authors signed publishing contracts as a result of pitches given at the conference. To register or to learn more, check out the site at http://www.killernashville.com. May 10, 2008: From 1:30-2:30 pm on Saturday, May 10, J.B. Thompson and I will be speaking at the Sisters in Crime meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. March 6, 2008: From 6:00-7:15 pm, on Thursday, March 6, Phyllis Gobbel, Mike Gasglow, and I will be participating on a panel about crime, suspense, and thrillers. The panel will be held at Davis Kidd in Green Hills, Nashville, TN. October 12-14, 2007: It's that time of year. Time for the annual Southern Festival of Books. The Festival is in held in Nashville this year. If you get a chance to come, you're in for a book-lover's dream. Sisters in Crime will have a booth, where, if you're so inclined, you can meet people who love mysteries. While you're there, check out the Dastardly Dishes cookbook. And if you're still around on Sunday, come on over to Room 18 for the panel, "Writing with Criminal Intent," with Mary Saums, E. Joan Sims, Lonnie Cruse, and yours truly. We'll be signing our books afterward on the Mezzanine. |
